Deepak- The Best Man in The World
I have to say that Deepak is the best character that I have ever seen in the plays. His character is so good that I think it is so hard to find even in this society today. After being rejected by Mala, he is so determined that he dares to visit Mala's mother--Shanta, for her approval and help. This shows that he really leaves behind the risk of being humiliated. He really loves Mala more than his own dignity. Furthermore, knowing that Mala has an un-speak-able problem in her heart that contributes to her behaviors today, he is willing to go to the therapist and find solutions to save her from the hell. What a great man he is. As a successful man he is, Deepak does not need to do all these and he can have other better girls perhaps. However, his loyalty gives him this bravery to achieve Mala's love and trust. Therefore, if compared to Mala's uncle and the paper wallah who place female in a very low position, Deepak is certainly the best choice of Mala's.

I agree with Jessie's opinion that Deepak is the best man in the world because he loved Mala so much. He seems like did not bother the rejection by Mala because he still visit Mala's mother. he also willing himself to help mala by taking her to the therapist and find solutions to save her. I like Deepak very much because he determine to help Mala although he can find another woman which are better than Mala. therefore, Deepak is a very good character in this play and I like this character very much
I strongly agree with Jessie. Deepak can be considered as the best man in this entire world because he loved Mala so much despite the fact of mala have been ‘used’ by other men. Although Mala seems reluctant to accept him but he never bother and keep trying to win her heart. He also treat Shanta in such a nice way and polite. Plus, he is willing to help Mala by taking her to the therapist and accompany her everytime she need. I think Deepak character has give a good image of man generally and it tells that not every man is evil and abusive.
I truly agree with Yong Chui Shan that Deepak is such a good character. After he knows everything about Mala, he is still willing to marry him. This proves that he loves Mala and will do anything for her. The author himself has created Deepak a kind character since all the other male character in the play is presented with negative connotation. In Sanskrit, Deepak means “the holder of light” which really does reflect Deepak in the play. He is the only one who helped her overcome her fear and problems due to her uncle’s cruelty. Therefore, I support that Deepak is certainly the best man in the world. I don’t think there are actually any guys like Deepak out there.
